S. , University of Tennessee, Knoxville, 1966, and M. B. A. , 1968. University of Tennessee faculty member, 1968-1970. Businessman, 1970-1980. Elected as a Republican to the Ninety-seventh Congress (January 3, 1981-January 3, 1983). Unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1982 to the Ninety-eighth Congress. Elected to the Ninety-ninth Congress (January 3, 1985-January 3, 1987). Was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1986. Fellow, American Defense Institute, Washington, D. C. Died on June 20, 2018, in Forest City, N. C.
