Delegate, California League of Cities and National League of Cities, 1970-1978. Elected as a Republican to the Ninety-sixth and to the succeeding Congress (January 3, 1979-January 3, 1983). Was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination to the Ninety-eighth Congress in 1982. Director of the Peace Corps in Nairobi, Kenya, 1983. Member of the California state assembly, 1985-1988. Died on January 19, 2011, in La Mirada, Calif. Interment at Olive Lawn Memorial Park, La Mirada, Calif.
