Maritime Service and United States Army. Faculty, Wayne State University, Detroit, Mich. Member of the Michigan state legislature, 1965-1966. Elected as a Republican to the Ninetieth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1967-January 3, 1977). Was not a candidate for reelection to the Ninety-fifth Congress in 1976, but was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States Senate. Director of public affairs, U. S. Steel Corporation, 1977-1980. Director of programs and seminars, American Enterprise Institute, 1981-1987. Died on June 19, 2010, in Ann Arbor, Mich.
