United States Coast Guard Reserves, 1946-1977. Lawyer, private practice. Internal Revenue agent, United States Treasury Department, 1946-1947. Assistant prosecutor, Ingham County, Mich. , 1950. City attorney of East Lansing, Mich. , and legal counsel to Michigan state senate judiciary committee, 1953 and 1954. Prosecuting attorney of Ingham County, Mich. , 1955-1956. Elected as a Republican to the Eighty-fifth and to the eight succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1957-December 31, 1974). Was not a candidate for reelection to the Ninety-fourth Congress in 1974. Died on November 25, 2002, in Leesburg, Va. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing, Mich.
