A Representative from Michigan. Born in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, September 12, 1941. Graduated from St. Ignatius High School, Cleveland, Ohio, 1959. A. B. , Wayne State University, Detroit, Mich. , 1965. J. D. , University of Michigan Law School, Ann Arbor, Mich. , 1967. Admitted to the Michigan Bar in 1968. Lawyer, private practice. Member of the Michigan state house of representatives, 1970. Reelected in 1972. Delegate to Michigan state Democratic conventions, 1968-1974. Elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-fourth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1975-January 3, 1983). Was not a candidate for reelection to the Ninety-eighth Congress in 1982. Resumed the practice of law. Unsuccessful candidate for nomination to United States Senate in 1994.
