Foreign Relations FOR

In support of the following measures when passed by House and to be included in the FY 2020 National Defense Authorization Act Conference Report: Support the Rep. Ro Khanna/Matt Gaetz amendment to prohibit funds for military action against Iran without explicit authorization from Congress. Support the Khanna-Smith-Schiff-Jayapal amendment to cease use of US military assets in the Saudi Arabia bombing of Yemen. Support the Rep. Barbara Lee amendment to repeal the 2002 Iraq Authorization for the Use of Military Force in the FY2020 National Defense Authorization Act Advocated for support of H.R. 5122, the Foreign Agents Registration Modernization (FARM) Act of 2019. The FARM Act seeks to increase the transparency of foreign government influence activities in the United States by making filings under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) more accessible and the filing contents more searchable. The FARM Act would enhance the transparency of foreign influence in the United States in two ways. First, the bill requires agents of a foreign principal to submit their FARA filings to the Department of Justice (DOJ) in an easily searchable electronic format, also known as a structured data format. Second, the legislation directs the DOJ to work with the Secretary of the Senate to create a public database for FARA filings. Support legislation repealing the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF).
