Recognizes the adoption of the resolution on the situation of human rights of Rohingya Muslims and other minorities in Burma (Myanmar) by the United Nations (U.N.) Human Rights Council on December 5, 2017. Condemns the Burmese military for its atrocities against the Rohingya. Reaffirms the international prohibitions against the use of ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity.
Urges the government of Burma to take specified steps, including allowing the U.N. Fact-Finding Mission to Myanmar to examine the human rights violations by military and security forces in Burma.
Calls for the U.N. to: (1) pass resolutions condemning the human rights violations by Burmese security forces against the Rohingya, and (2) establish an independent mechanism to assist individual criminal investigations and refer those responsible for atrocity crimes against the Rohingya to the International Criminal Court. Calls on the U.N. Security Council to impose a comprehensive arms embargo against Burma.
