This bill would establish provisions relating to repairing digital electronic equipment. This bill would require original equipment manufacturers to make available to independent repair providers and equipment owners any documentation, embedded software, parts, and tools required for diagnosing, maintaining, or repairing digital electronic equipment or any part of digital electronic equipment manufactured for the first time and first sold or used in Wyoming. This bill would prohibit practices that restrict independent repair providers and equipment owners from diagnosing, maintaining, or repairing digital electronic equipment including parts pairing. This bill would exempt certain categories of manufacturers, products, devices, and equipment from these requirements and this bill would provide penalties of unlawful deceptive trade practice for any violations.
