Summary

Board of Veterinary Medicine; temporary licenses for certain applicants. Provides that the Board of Veterinary Medicine may issue a temporary license to an applicant who has accepted an offer of employment from a veterinarian approved by the Board provided such applicant (i) has received passing scores on the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination; (ii) has completed, at a minimum, all requirements to receive certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates of the American Veterinary Medical Association except for the clinical proficiency examination; and (iii) is legally eligible for employment in the United States. The bill provides that such temporary license holders may practice only under the direct supervision of an approved veterinarian and may not receive a controlled substances registration certificate. The bill also requires the Board to maintain records relating to such temporary licenses and authorizes the Board to promulgate regulations necessary to carry out the provisions of the bill.
