SB 624

ON FEBRUARY 26, 2026, THE SENATE SUBSTITUTED HOUSE BILL 618 FOR SENATE BILL 624, ADOPTED AMENDMENT #2, AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 618, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #2 makes the following changes:  Clarifies that individuals holding an elected office of a local government and another elected office in this state on January 1, 2027, may continue holding such offices and may be reelected to such offices. However, if an individual ceases holding more than one office after January 1, 2027, then the individual is subject to the prohibition against an individual holding an elected office of a local government and another elected office in this state at the same time.  Changes the effective date of the bill from effective upon becoming a law to January 1, 2027.
