Tennessee - Session 114
Title: AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49, Chapter 3, relative to the Tennessee investment in student achievement formula.
Present law establishes the Tennessee investment in student achievement formula (TISA), which is a student-based funding formula established as the system for funding edu cation for K-12 public schools. Under TISA, a student generates weighted allocations. SMALL DISTRICTS Under present law, the weighted allocation for a student who resides in a small district is 5%. This bill would raise the weighted allocation to 10 %. Under present law, a "small district"" means an LEA with a membership of 1, 000 or fewer students. This bill would change the definition to an LEA with a membership of fewer than 1, 000 students. This bill also adds a weighted allocation for a student who resides in an LEA with a membership of: Between 4, 000 and 4, 999 students, both inclusive, of 1% Between 3, 000 and 3, 999 students, both inclusive, of 2% Between 2, 000 and 2, 999 students, both inclusive, of 3% Between 1, 000 and 1, 999 students, both inclusive, of 4% ALLOCATIONS FOR MAINTENANCE AND INFRASTRUCTURE This bill also adds that a student generates a direct allocation for the LEA in which the student is a member in the amount of $50 for maintenance and infrastructure. APPLICABILITY This bill applies to the TISA for the 2025-2026 school year and each school year thereafter."
