AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 5; Title 6; Title 7, Chapter 51; Title 8 and Title 50, relative to electrical linemen.
ON APRIL 21, 2026, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 1464, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 makes the following changes: Names the bill "The Chance Carlton Act."" Requires that a denial of a claim for an annuity made by the estate of an electrical lineman is subject to review by the department of finance and administration within 90 days of the denial. The department has the authority to review the claim and issue a final order, which is binding on this state. Copies of the final order must be delivered to the claim's estate. ON APRIL 22, 2026, THE SENATE SUBSTITUTED HOUSE BILL 1464 FOR SENATE BILL 1907, ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1, AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 1464, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 revises the definition of ""electrical lineman, as used in the bill, to mean an individual who (i) installs, maintains, or repairs electrical transmission and power distribution systems; and (ii) is employed by a municipality, county, utilit y district, or other local governmental entity. ON APRIL 22, 2026, THE HOUSE NON-CONCURRED IN SENATE AMENDMENT #1. ON APRIL 23, 2026, THE SENATE REFUSED TO RECEDE FROM ITS NON-CONCURRENCE IN SENATE AMENDMENT #1."
