North Carolina - Session 2025
Title: Regulate Hemp-Derived Beverages.
Adds definitions of hemp-derived beverage and hemp-derived cannabinoid to the definitions provided in GS 18B-101, and includes hemp-derived beverages in the definition of malt beverage, while excluding it from the definition of alcoholic beverage . Adds new subsection (a2) to GS 18B-102, making it unlawful to manufacture, sell, transport, import, deliver, furnish, purchase, consume, or possess hemp-derived beverages except as provided in GS Chapter 18B. Includes hemp-derived beverages in the standards provided under GS 18B-206, giving the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission the same authority to set standards and testing procedures as currently applies to alcoholic beverages. Makes conforming changes. Makes clarifying changes to incorporate the renumbered definitions.
