Title: An Act to Protect Students by Ensuring Schools Have Complete Information About School Employees and Applicants for Employment

Summary

This bill would clarify the duties of schools and the Department of Education in vetting applicants for school jobs and investigating school employees accused of alleged misconduct. It would clarify information that must be disclosed to schools by applicants and information schools must verify from applicants. It would require schools to report to the department if an employee leaves employment before an investigation of the employee's alleged misconduct can be completed, require a school to ask the department about any current or previous investigations and clarify that a school must begin an investigation upon any notice of misconduct, even if not a formal complaint.
