Chief of staff to Florida Governor Charlie Crist 2007. Appointed on September 9, 2009, to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Melquiades R. Martinez. Took the oath of office on September 10, 2009, and served from September 9, 2009, to until January 3, 2011. Did not seek election in 2010.
