A Representative from Nevada. Born in Fort Dodge, Webster County, Iowa, on May 16, 1955. Graduated from Humboldt High School, Humboldt, Iowa, 1973. Attended Briar Cliff College, Sioux City, Iowa. Businessman. Member of the Boulder, Nev. , city council, 1983-1993. Mayor, Boulder, Nev. , 1987-1991. Member of the Nevada state senate, 1994-2002. Elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Eighth Congress and to the two succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2003-January 3, 2009). Unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Eleventh Congress in 2008.
