Was not a candidate for reelection to the House of Representatives but was elected as a Republican to the United States Senate in 2014, and served from January 3, 2015, to January 3, 2021. Chair, National Republican Senatorial Committee (2017-2018). Was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Senate in 2020.
