Elected as a Democrat to the One Hundredth and to the seventeen succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1987-January 3, 2023). Chair, Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (One Hundred Sixteenth and One Hundred Seventeenth Congresses). Was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Eighteenth Congress in 2022.
