A. , Tufts University, Medford, Mass. , 1975. J. D. , University of Connecticut, Storrs, Conn. , 1978. Lawyer, private practice. Member of the Connecticut state house of representatives, 1987-1994. Elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Tenth and to the nine succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2007-present).
